Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has an Internship Scheme for students and the Scheme seeks to engage students with Graduation/Post Graduation Degrees as well as Research Scholars enrolled in recognized University/Institution within India or abroad, as "Interns". These "Interns" shall be inducted all over the country in various Divisions/Units of the Ministry, its Integrated Regional Offices, Autonomous Organisations, Subordinate Offices, ENVIS (Resource Partners & Hubs).

These “Interns”, in turn, would be expected to supplement the process of analyzing within Ministry and its other formations through empirical collection and collation of in-house and other information. For the "Interns" the exposure to the functioning of the Ministry and its other formations may be an add-on in furthering their future interests.

Purpose To allow short-term exposure to "selected candidates" with different Divisions/Units of Ministry as 'Interns'.

Objectives of the Scheme:

The Scheme has the following objectives: (a)To allow young academic talent to be associated with the Ministry’s work for mutual benefit; (b)The "Interns" shall have an opportunity to know about the Government functioning and Regulatory and Developmental Policy issues and contribute in its amendment, if required, by generating inputs such as empirical analysis, briefing reports, policy papers, etc. (c)A candidate can apply for internship only once during a financial year.

Internship details:- (i)Eligibility:

The Applicant pursuing Graduation or Post-Graduation or Research Work from any recognized University/ Institution within India or abroad shall be eligible.

(ii)Period:

The period of Internship shall not exceed 3 months.

(iii)Experience Certificate:

A Certificate regarding successful completion of Internship shall be issued by the Division Head of the concerned Division in the format as available at ‘Annexure-II'. Interns not completing the requisite period will not be issued any Certificate.

Logistics & Support:

Interns will be required to have their own laptops. Ministry shall provide them working space, Internet facility and other necessities as deemed fit by the concerned Head of Division.

Stipend:-

Interns will receive a stipend of Rs. 10,000 per month, subject to completion of one month of internship, with proportionate payments for partial months, and deductions for absences exceeding three days.

Twice a year

A)Summer internship schedule.

B) Winter internship schedule.

Procedure for Application:


1. Online Application:

- Interested applicants must apply online through the Ministry's website. The address link for internship application will be provided on the website.

- Applicants should clearly indicate their area of interest during the application process.

- Each applicant can apply in one discipline only.


2. Selection of Discipline:

- Interns must choose one discipline of interest during the application process.

- If an applicant applies for more than one discipline, the Ministry will have the prerogative to nominate the discipline from those mentioned by the intern.


3. Submission of Documents:

- Upon selection, applicants must produce a letter from their Supervisor/Head of Department/Principal.

- The letter should indicate the applicant's status in the institution and grant "No Objection" for participation in the internship program for the selected period.


4. Completion of Application:

- Ensure all required documents are submitted along with the online application.

- Verify that the area of interest and other details are accurately indicated during the application process.


5. Confirmation of Application:

- Upon successful submission of the online application, applicants may receive a confirmation email or acknowledgment.

- Keep track of any further communication or updates regarding the application process.


6. Follow-Up:

- Stay updated on the status of the application through the Ministry's website or any communication channels provided.

- Respond promptly to any requests for additional information or clarification during the application process.

Selection Procedure 1. Application Submission: - Interested applicants must apply online through the Ministry's website within the specified period. - Applicants should indicate their area of interest clearly during the application process. - Each applicant can apply for internship in only one discipline. 2. Document Submission: - At the time of joining, selected applicants must provide a letter from their Supervisor/Head of Department/Principal, indicating their status in the institution and granting permission for the internship. 3. Scrutiny and Selection: - Online applications will be forwarded to the concerned Heads of Verticals/Units/Divisions in the Ministry for further scrutiny and selection. - Divisional Heads will form an Internal Scrutiny Committee to evaluate applications and select interns based on merit. - The Heads of Divisions/Units can take a maximum of two interns per discipline at a time, as per the list provided in Annexure I. 4. Criteria and Eligibility: - Ministry reserves the right to fix eligibility criteria and limit the number of applicants to be called for a particular period based on the number of applications received. - The decision of the Divisional Head on the proposed selection of a candidate as an intern shall be final. 5. Assignment and Supervision: - Selected interns will work under the guidance of Heads of Divisions/Units. - Interns will be required to complete assigned tasks and submit a brief report/paper at the end of their assignment. - Seminars/presentations may be conducted by Heads of particular Divisions/Units for their interns. 6. Attendance and Conduct: - Attendance records and work supervision details will be maintained by Heads of Divisions/Units. - Conduct of interns and their access to data will be the sole responsibility of the concerned Group Heads. 7. Documentation and Preferences: - Applicants must submit copies of their mark sheets/degrees of graduation/post-graduation. - Preference will be given to students pursuing MSc. or PGDM from IIFM. - Applicants must make their own arrangements for boarding/lodging, transportation, and stationery. 8. Final Submission and Rejection: - Applications must reach the Under Secretary (P.I) Section within the stipulated period through the online portal. - Incomplete applications or those not meeting the specified criteria will be summarily rejected. 9. Previous Internship Scheme: - Applications from applicants who have already completed the internship scheme in the Ministry will not be entertained, irrespective of the disciplines.
